The South African Cities Network releases its State of City Finances Report on 11 November 2015. The report calls for cities to address the gaps and inefficiencies in the current system, while keeping a close eye in the complexity of their future role, on mates such as urbanisation trends, the affordability of services, maximising existing revenue potential, etc. The State of the Cities Report which is due for release in 2016, makes the case for cities as being the drivers of national and local economic development and, therefore the State of the City Finances Report provides great insight on the necessary changes that need to be implemented.
