As you know I am directly involved in the comprehensive revision of this draft legislation which was published last October. In the process I have had considerable contact with Gert Hugo as we were required to liaise with all significant stakeholders.Since meeting with Gert Hugo and receiving his comments I have now received the comments from SAPOA which Gert Hugo prepared. I would like to let you know that the comments and suggestions made by Gert Hugo have been extremely useful and in some respects have dealt with issues which otherwise may have been overlooked. Gert Hugo has made a careful and very systematic assessment of the draft legislation, most of which is particularly useful if not invaluable.The SAPOA comments are by far the most useful to date. I cannot guarantee that all the comments will be accepted but in general they have had a positive influence on the Bill which is to be submitted to the Provincial Legislature on 3 June 2003. I will keep you advised of any further developments and would like to express my personal thanks for the contribution which SAPOA has made in this regard.
