Each year, SAPOA – in conjunction with various tertiary Educational Institutions – presents a range of short courses and training programmes in commercial property.
Employers may apply to claim back a portion of the course fees from the relevant SETA.
The number of delegates attending each course is limited, and it is recommended that application forms are processed and submitted urgently in each instance.
The attached pages provide a synopsis of the Property Development Programme, as well as a registration form.

Course Profile and ObjectivesBPP is a three-day BEGINNERS COURSE in property, designed for those who have little or no property knowledge and, in addition, may not have had the advantage of a tertiary education. These courses* are held in conjunction with the University of Pretoria with the exception of KwaZulua Natal and Limpipo Province.
It is an ideal course for:
- people who need to acquire a BASIC KNOWLEDGE of the various principles and forces at play in the property industry
- property executives who have recognised the value of their
personal assistants and secretaries having a basic knowledge in property
- organisations which are seriously concerned with affirmative action issues.

Course Profile and ObjectivesPIP is an intense INTERMEDIATE course which is held over four days. This course*, which is held in conjunction with the University of Pretoria, is designed for people in junior and middle management positions. The objective of the course is to extend the basic knowledge of participants on the principles and practices of property investment, development, marketing and management, and the inter-relationships between the various disciplines.

The fee includes lecture notes, examination fees, accommodation and all meals for the three-day block session, but does not include the cost of a financial calculator, or transport to and from the venue.
Course Profile and ObjectivesThe CCPP is presented by the University of Pretoria in conjunction with SAPOA.
This is South Africa’s premier qualification for practitioners and brokers involved in office, retail and industrial leasing, selling, management and investment.
Experienced academic staff as well as leading figures in the industry provides a strong functional base to the programme.
The course is designed to provide the necessary skills and knowledge for the broker and practitioner to function effectively, efficiently and successfully in the commercial and industrial property sectors.
Entrance qualification is a minimum of matric, with mathematics at matric level being desirable.
The course comprises 26 subjects, to be studied by correspondence between February and November. A welcoming workshop is held at the University on a Saturday morning preceding the course – to allow delegates to meet each other and to gain an overview of the course and assignment procedures. There is a three-day residential block session in October, at a venue in Gauteng.

This IPMP is an intensive course, which is held over five days.
It is offered in conjunction with the University of the Free State and is designed for people in first level and middle management positions.
The IPMP has been structured to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of project management and the application thereof in practice.
The objective of the course is to cover the proven generic areas of project management and to introduce delegates to the more innovative and novel practices in project management. On completion of the course, delegates should be able to utilise the relevant concepts when executing projects and contribute to future development of project management as a strategic tool in their enterprises.
The contents of the course are broad based and supported by extensive course material. Lecturers are experienced academics and practitioners with sound knowledge and handson practical experience. The tutorial guides delegates in developing cognitive ability, which in turn will enhance their ability to substantially contribute towards the development of a project management strategy in their enterprises.

The objective of the course is to distinguish between asset management, property management, facilities management, maintenance management and to equip delegates with a knowledge base suitable for structuring and executing a facilities management strategy. The concept and implementation of facilities management is fairly new to South Africa, but destined to become a major service and career focus.
The contents of the course are broad based and supported by extensive course material. Lecturers are experienced academics and practitioners with sound knowledge and handson practical experience. The tutorial guides delegates in developing cognitive ability, which in turn will enhance their ability to substantially contribute towards the development of a facilities management strategy in their enterprises.
